Up-Cycling Weekend Project - Dressing Table

The end result - so happy!

I love being crafty. I love the idea of bringing something old back to life and up-cycling it. We have done this many times in our house, and this time I wanted to re-organise my dressing table.

Beauty care and makeup is a huge part of who I am. I don’t buy expensive brands, or spend heaps on beauty and makeup, but I do enjoy pampering myself, and putting on a bit of lippy. My dressing table is my little haven, my small space just for me. No baby gear, no dog gear, my husband cant dumb his socks there. This space is all mine…..and I love it.

My dressing table is in a corner of our master, and my delight it enjoys daily natural sunlight making it the perfect spot to pamper myself.

I found these small jars in the local Hospice shop for only $1 for all 3 !

So I went on a hunt in our local Hospice shop for some ideas to give the dressing table a new look. I love our local Hospice shop, I manage to find new things every week and there’s nothing better than supporting a local charity that does such special work. After looking around, I managed to find a small set of 3 drawers and some jars. I also had some glass jars at home and a clear makeup organizer too. We had some egg blue spray paint in the garage and I decided to spray paint them all to give the area some colour. To top it off, I also gave the mirror a fresh coat too.
Taped and ready to paint.

I didn’t want just everything all one colour, and used some paint masking tape to create lines on the drawers and small jars. We enjoying some nice weather early in the weekend, so sprayed them outside and they were dry within 2 hours.

And viola! Just like that, and for no more than $20, I had a new look for my dressing table.

It may be small, but its all mine <3

The new look also gave me motivation to go through my makeup stash and through out what I don’t use, as well as old brushes. Now it feels like I have a whole new area, and its all mine! When you’re a Mum, it’s the little thing like this that help keep me sane.

So, if you ever want to freshen up an area at home, look in the local charity shop first - you never know, you could find a dream piece.

Love
